The purpose of this study is to analyze the voting patterns and the performance of soccer-related city council members between 2008 and 2012, as well as to examine the relationships between these legislators and the organized supporters of soccer teams. From a theoretical-methodological framework characterized by the interrelation between different disciplines, this research attempts to present the social and political context in which this kind of leadership emerges, its campaign platforms, and the voting patterns and political projects that are typical to these elected representatives. In addition, this study highlights the claims, concepts and strategies that are frequent in the relationship between the different actors. The suggested diagnosis discusses broader issues that are related to the fields of both soccer and politics. Furthermore, it justifies the consideration of matters such as the impact of the electoral system on the popularization of the archetype (stereotype) of the Brazilian legislators, the responsiveness of council members to their electoral bases, the conformity of voting patterns and the performance of elected representatives and the electoral behavior in Brazil.
