Viva Rio: uma organização para os novos tempos?

This work aim is to review Viva Rio's overall trajectory. Its pivotal moments and its main projects and campaigns. We seek to understand how a social movement created by a handful of individuals morphed into one of the biggest organizations of Rio de Janeiro. From that moment on Viva Rio developed a specific identity and a goal; becoming a non governamental organization, turning into a NGO. By analyzing its developmental course, we intend to shed light on its ambiguities, its dilemmas and the challenges it faced. This study encompasses the process of its creation, its development and its recent attempt at reinventing itself. Thus, this paper hopes to contribute to the preservation of the memory of this institution: Viva Rio.
