This work analyses how to enhance a performance assessment program for suppliers of legal collection services for Real State Financing taken place in a huge Brazilian financial institution. From the bibliographic revision, it was possible to determine a scope of suppliers management, restrictions concerned to its application and where the suppliers performance assessment could fit in this scope. Then, a reference frame for suppliers performance assessment has been designed involving four dimensions: supplier quality system assessment, supplier business management assessment, product fitness for use assessment and relationship between supplier and organization assessment. Additionally, some issues which cause impact in supplier performance assessment were detected in other processes related to supplier management. After interviews with the members of the buyer organization and one of its relevant suppliers, the reference frame turned to be adequate to the assessment program for suppliers of legal collection services for Real State Financing, and as consequence, gaps and suggestions for improving the actual program could be identified, reaching the aim of this case research.
