This case study intents to analyze Participative Budget procedures and its implications to the new development policies adopted in Ribeirão Pires. These policies are based in economic sustainable procedures, consolidating social aspects and introducing environmental aspects. The implementation of these policies in Ribeirão Pires is strongly linked wit the Participative Budget procedures, creating possibilities of citizens participation in order to fix priorities in relation to the public investments. This situation has a great potential for Participative Budget to be a valuable instrument on implementation of sustainable development policies.
