Presentation of the concept and characteristics of succession planning, alerting for its importance for the survival of a typical segment of the world’s economy; Family Businesses. Analyses of the regulation and jurisprudence, brought by the Brazilian Civil Code, regarding the order of succession between the descendants and the spouse. Application of the succession planning theory in a case study, utilizing instruments present in succession law and corporate law.
