The aim of this article was to investigate the scientific production on human development from the perspective of bio-ecological theory and its relationship to the following themes: children's advertising and televised media consumption. After identifying the topics and selecting the research question, the digital database of the collection of Capes periodicals was accessed. Then, the results were analyzed and organized. Five hundred fifty-four items were found, but only a small number of them addressed the central issues of this research. Despite the growth of information technology and children's increased contact not only with television, but also with various other media, the number of studies based on theories of human development concerning this society in which consumer products and services is a constant practice in families is still small.
