Media and democracy - conflict prevention and democratic integrity in the digital enviroment, 2023-2024

Resumo
Aiming to understand public debate on social networks and develop strategies to preserve the integrity of Brazilian democracy - particularly focusing on issues such as dis and misinformation, hate speech, political violence, and gender issues - the Media and Democracy project conducted periodic studies and policy papers that contributed to the discussions of the project’s namesake council and garnered significant media attention. The studies that make up the project were divided into eight areas: Elections, Gender, Communicational Challenges, Environment, Indigenous Peoples, Public Security, Health, and International Politics. The policy papers sparked discussions on gender, mis and disinformation, climate change, and artificial intelligence, while also identifying risks and offering recommendations for Brazil’s 2024 elections.
