Resumo
This article aims to contribute with the empirical literature on entrepreneurship. It is structured by a theoretical review, a discussion of other relevant empirical papers and it proposes a multiple linear regression model so as to evaluate correlations among possible determinants of entrepreneurship and the quantity of functioning businesses by municipality. The object of study was the set of municipalities of the state of Goiás. The results suggest that, when controlled for salaries, variables such as the Gini Coefficient and the relative share of public sector employees, among others, influence the quantity of functioning businesses. It is hoped that this article contributes to policymaking in the state of Goiás and elsewhere.
