Resumo
This dissertation gathers the main concepts in project management. It deals with the models of maturity in project management, mainly the derivations of model CMM (Capability Maturity Model), and its respective - when existing - certifications. As theoretical perspective for the reflection on the subject, the Institutional Theory was used with emphasis on the concepts of legitimacy, isomorphism and ceremonial behavior. An explanatory qualitative research was performed - through a case study - to attest the evidence of a pressuring environment which pushes organizations to conformity and legitimacy in their performance field rather than efficiency. This study analyzed the process of project management maturity certification which is a fertile and still unexplored field, especially when considering the Brazil’s situation.
