The aim of this work lies in demonstrating the feasibility of implementing a Project Management Office (PMO - Project Management Office) to projects carried out by various organs of government, to increase efficiency and effectiveness of project achievements in the public sphere. Described the project management concepts, project management office, specifically in public institutions, and intersectoral approach, it is proposed the PMO to intersectoral projects because, through the structuring of a PMO can ensure better governance to existing projects, establish standards for project managers to follow, generating improved knowledge management in institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to relax the structure of the institutions, generating greater interaction between public entities, private institutions and civil society. In addition, you need the engagement of the top management of the organization, working as the sponsor of this action, as it represents a paradigm shift and culture in public institutions. That way, you can improve the use of public resources in project management, promoting greater social control and greater involvement of society in the Brazilian public management.
