Resumo

There is evidence that Chinese pragmatism accounts for Small and Medium Enterprise’ success in China. Chinese pragmatism is composed of four main elements: adaptability, sense of reality, goal and innovation. The objective of this article is to analyze conceptually and empirically the influence of these elements on success of Chinese companies established in Brazil. Chinese pragmatism is also compared with Western World´s principles. . Data is obtained through interviews with Small and Medium Chinese entrepreneurs established in São Paulo City. and exploratory methodology is applied in this study. We find that regardless of store size, business specialty and previous experiences, all entrepreneurs interviewed demonstrate their Chinese pragmatism ability in running successfully their business.
