President Xi emphasized at the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China the importance of respecting and protecting nature for building a modern socialist country. He endorsed the idea that green landscapes are invaluable resources and highlighted the need for harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Xi stressed green development, advocating for accelerated green transformation and the push for carbon neutrality. His insights offer foundational guidance for ecological civilization and ESG development practices in today's era. This article covers China's ESG development in five main points: 1. The global trend is towards net-zero carbon reduction. As a major emitter, China aims for carbon peak by 2030 and neutrality by 2060. Xi emphasized prioritizing low-carbon industries, green consumption, and lifestyles. 2. The article discusses China's perspectives on ESG, focusing on its unique cultural, developmental, and socioeconomic contexts. 3. It underscores the significance of ESG information disclosure, particularly the 'E' or environmental aspect. 4. Using HBIS Group as a case, the article explores how industrial enterprises integrate ESG for sustainable growth, mainly analyzing the 'E' dimension. 5. Lastly, it reviews China's ESG policies in 2022 and forecasts for 2023.
