Resumo
The current Brazilian cultural fervour evidences that new technologies and new business models have fostered unprecedented artistic production. Nevertheless, Brazil still lacks public policies that clearly communicate the importance of copyrights in this multiple-facetted cultural scenario. Copyrights are critical not only to protect original works of authorship but also to warrant access, freedom of expression, democratic knowledge sharing and the constitutional right to education.
