Resumo
This study focuses not only on the institutional mechanisms to control the bureaucracy in the US but also on the controversies around their efficiency. Stressing the limits of parliamentary control, the paper establishes a comparison with Brazil and analyses some proposals to enhance the accountability of policymakers.
