Resumo
This research project intended to bring light to the way organizations use the Internet and other information technologies in order to add value and/or reduce costs to their customers. Special focus is given to the virtualization of products and services companies provide and to the virtualization of business processes, including the relationship with suppliers and other business partners. The study was based on survey data, which was analyzed using quantitative methods. The main purpose of the project was to check if the authors preliminary model explained the behavior of Brazilian manufacturing companies with respect to the Internet. The authors also intend to check if the uses of the Internet made by the surveyed companies were extensible to other market segments, besides those directly involved in the current study.
