This theoretical essay presents a favorable argument for studies seeking to understand the social practice of the strategy (its processes and reflexes) in Brazilian public administration when formulated models originated from the private sector. The proposal is built from a review of the Balanced Scorecard deployment (BSC) in the Brazilian Judiciary context. The analytical framework proposed includes contributions from Structuration Theory to the recognition of the interrelationship between social practices, practitioners and episodes of praxis. Finally, the authors trace final considerations that highlight the potential from the perspective of social practice to achieve a better understanding of strategising at different levels in the Brazilian Judiciary.
