This article discusses the new paradigms that guide teaching practices in cvberspace and contribute to the expansion of its profile and building new skills. The division of roles in the design of distance education and open education through the Internet created the figure of a mentor-teacher, which must be distinguished from the mentor that characterized the formal models of Distance Education. New paradigms built from the complex thought and postmodernism elements are faced with the marks of modernity still present in school practices. New technologies expand the spaces where these paradigms compete and force the education to expand its borders. Traditional education gives signs of exhaustion and sets new guidelines. The on-line teacher is designed from these new guidelines and the expansion of education into cvberspace. The skills that this teacher must build respond to the multiple contexts of performance that the world in network provides. Who is this teacher and which are his skills? Morin Maffesoli, Moraes, Freire and Gadotti help us reflect on these issues.
