The article Paper Formalities, Morality, and Disputes: The Administration of Missing Children Cases in Rio de Janeiro reviews how a social assistance program in Rio de Janeiro for cases of missing young people leads to a dual process; producing a social character and establishing a domain of intervention at the same time. Bearing in mind that the character is a 'missing child' and the domain of intervention, the 'missing child's family', the idea is to show how family members are not passive agents in this process, but rather respond to it by presenting documents. Thus they attempt to portray what makes their children special in view of the formal figure of the 'missing child' and dispute moral parameters in the assessment of the family.
