Resumo
This study aims to identify the characteristics from Brazilian listed companies that have foreign investors. The purpose was to examine whether such companies have better financial indicators, higher valuation and better corporate governance. This research is an original study, in which 215 public companies were analyzed from 2001 to 2012. The results suggest that there is a significant relationship between the presence of foreign investors and higher firm valuation, lower leverage, higher profitability and better corporate governance.
