Ex-votos, promessas e milagres: um estudo sobre a Igreja Nossa Senhora da Penna

The present dissertation deals with the religious practice, ex-votos or miracles focusing the Church of Nossa Senhora da Penna, one of the ancient churches of Brazil. This church keeps different kinds of examples or categories of ex-votos that are analysed in the present paper. The church’s history and its surroundings; the creation of the religious order and its representation for the devotees are also considerated.
