Resumo
The Artificial Intelligence has resurged in recent years as an unprecedented digital technology capable of transforming all aspects of society through the constant waves of innovation it brings forth. Despite the rapid growth of AI in the various industries, when it comes to the Artificial Intelligence Outsourcing , there is evidence that scientific research is still lagging to study this phenomenon, although the competitiveness of the firms is gravitating towards the adoption of this new technology. Employing a robust theorical framework with Transaction Cost Economic Theory, Dynamic Capabilities Perspective, and extant outsourcing research, this qualitative study aligned with statistical techniques (Multidimensional Scaling, Social Networkand clustering analysis) for data assessment, investigated five study cases from enterprises in Artificial Intelligence Outsourcing market, which resulted in the identification of twenty-nine critical success factors for the Artificial Intelligence Outsourcing endeavors, that were deduced from the literature review, as well as the discovery of the third factor “Geographic and Cultural Distance”, induced from the data coding. Partitioners are advised to select a subset of this list according to the business objectives they are aiming. Other results of this study is the reinforcement of several claims in the literature regarding the differences between Artificial Intelligence and Information Technology projects, and the ranking of the critical factors, which revealed that the most important critical factors are “Management of Data” and a “Clear Link Between Artificial Intelligence projects to Business Objectives”, in this order.
