Resumo
This paper resumes the presentation of a new index of electoral concentration suggested by Avelino, Biderman e Silva (2011), and covers all candidates for federal deputy throughout the country for elections that occurred between 2002 and 2010. Results showed in systematic way that successful candidates are less concentrated than unsuccessful ones; a finding that weakens the approaches that assume the predominance of the personal votes in Brazilian proportional elections On the other side, a preliminary analysis based on traditional party system variables showed much variation among Brazilian states.
