The theme of this dissertation is a comparison between tne subject of psychoanalytical theory and the subject in the way it is conceived by School Psychology. At first, we tried to describe the subject of Psychoanalysis, from the reading of some Freudian texts, which demonstrated that, from a psychoanalytical point-of- view, the subject is the Unconscious. Based on this, we tried to shO\ ... that. from the standpoint of psychoanalytical theory, there is no access to the subject either through logic or through common sense. S~condly, base d on a fie ld work and a bibliographic research, we 'made an attempt to discover who School Psych~ logy regards as the subject. As a result of these researches, it nas become clear that. with very few exceptions, this subject is in no way similar to the one of psychoanalytical theory. School Psychology eminently addresses itself to the individual as a conscious subject. And, finally, we aimed at making some comments conceTning the comparison between the way the subject is regarded by Psycnoanalysis and School Psychology. Then we oDserved tllat. according to some authors, the role of school psycnologist would be that of contributing to make the individual they deal with more criticaI towards the socialand political systems in which he is inserted; while the field work and some other authors have considered School Psycliology as a vehicle of a bet ter adaptation of individuaIs to what is considered as ideal.
