The health market is going through a period of reconfiguration of its structure with investments in all areas of this sector. The entry of investors into an environment historically controlled by families and doctors means that more advanced levels of management are required with the objective of greater return on capital. The entry of several competitors in the sector on the Brazilian stock exchange in the last two years, drew the attention of several financial specialists regarding the leverage of value generation associated with this relatively new market in the eyes of investors. We can observe different formats of health business models such as verticalized operations, in which health plans have their own assets for the provision of patient care, and non-vertical operations in which health plans work with market service providers so that service to its beneficiaries. Recent mergers and acquisitions have the ultimate objective of finding the best configuration to respond to the problems of high health costs, exorbitant prices for beneficiaries and the inability of the system to absorb such costs through efficient waste management. The present dissertation has the main goal of evaluating the variables linked to the generation of value of health plans in the last 10 years, including the pandemic period, and thus inferring which are the most important levers in the structuring of health plans capable of generating value in this marketplace.
