Resumo
This article aims to analyze Project Portfolio Management models, with a special focus on project selection methodologies, as well as to evaluate experiences in local governments that used the tool in order to promote the government's strategy. The bibliography visited in this work encompassed the models of Archer and Ghasemzadeh (2000) and the Project Management Institute (2013). The experiences analyzed include the states of Minas Gerais and Tocantins. As a result, contributions are provided for the city of Osasco, which has since 2013 undertaken major reforms in municipal public administration, to reflect on a project selection methodology that allows the government to design a portfolio of more assertive strategic initiatives.
