Resumo
The aim of these Project is, expose the causes of the women´s discrimination in the Spanish labor market; By means of gathering of a set of statistical data about the situation of women in the Spanish labor market, that reflects an unequal situation and through the study of data related to the development of female human capital, as educational levels. In order to prove that it is in fact a case of discrimination based on gender; On the contrary what these theories propose, it is not women performance the ones which auto restrict its development and define their professional career. There are other external factors, which they cannot choose as sexual division of labor, horizontal and vertical occupational segregation, housework and care and glass ceiling. These project is divided in four parts: The first is the statistical analysis of the main indicators that outline the situation of women in the Spanish labor market. Second one is the illustration of theories that seek to justify the discriminatory situation. Third one is the deconstruction of the arguments of these theories, and the definition of the external factors that limit women in the market and whose cause is only gender. Finally, in conclusion, last section aims to highlight the need for state intervention through affirmative action policies on the road to achieving real equality in the labor market.
