Resumo
On 4 May 2026, the European Commission released its Simplification review under its EU Deforestation-Free Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, EUDR). It comprises: (i) an updated version of the Guidance and the Frequently Asked Questions, (ii) a Draft Delegated Act, and (iii) updates regarding the EUDR Information System and Trade Facilitation Tools. This package fulfils a mandate introduced by the December 2025 amendment (Regulation (EU) 2025/2650). In this context, and given the strategic importance of EUDR compliance for exporting countries within the EU–Mercosur framework, given their role as exporters of agricultural products, this document was elaborated by FGV Rio Law’s Centre for Global Law (CPDG) and Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence on EU-LA Global Challenges (CEJM), sponsored by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Programme. Both CPDG and CEJM serve as hubs of expertise in Global Law and Governance in Brazil and across Latin America.
