Resumo
This study examines how the human and material resources for education are allocated in a sample of primary and secondary schools of five South American countries (Ar gentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Perou). By a quantitative methodology, the diitribution of physical resources isstudied according to the location of the schools, their administrative dependencies, their degree of schooling and the socio-economic level of the pupils. The data analysis suggests a disparate and regressive distribution of resources to schools,whose causes are tabe looked for in the social system as whole, and not only in the educational system.
