Resumo
This article highlights the importance of energy efficiency in public buildings as a public policy to be adopted by municipal managers, both for its demonstration effect of modernity and alignment with the principles of sustainability as the induction of environmental development, technology and market. Provide the rationale and challenges facing the problems related to the high energy consumption in municipal public buildings, and a set of objective proposals to adopt a new approach to the management of demand and consumption in these facilities, especially the study and diagnosis made for the government of São Paulo and examples or case studies, to be explored and followed
