Resumo
In this paper is presented how the tutors work can be crucial to the excellence of distance education. It was also analyzed how the Ministry of Education suggests that this performance should be, through the document Referenciais de Qualidade para a Educação Superior a Distância. Throughout the article, is demonstrated how the FGV Online Program reached an ideal profile of tutors by a rigorous selection process and training, which allows tutors comply with the expectations outlined in the Referenciais de Qualidade. It can be identified that the competences set as determinants for quality of distance education are effectively considered throughout the selection process and training of tutors, and remain as goal along the performance thereof
