The human behavior cientists are nowadays must concerned about the existed relation between anxiety and self performance, in the current men work stager. Some of them think there is a reverse relation between these variables. The objective of this research is to find if the anxiety, here taken as a independent variable, impacts the choise of a job; aids if an improper choice of a job can raise the level of anxiety of an individuos. One focuses some theories about anxiety undet its, classical approaches, definitions and models by out standing authors; among them: Kierkegaard, Freud, Rollo May, Clark Hull, Spielberger. One includes also several Theories in the field the performance at the school. A fieldwork was conducted in several Rio de Janeiro Universities and independent Psychology Universities, with the use of the Spielberger's Anxiety Inventory, portuguese translation by Angela Biaggio, which objective was to find answers to the following questions: would the student look for a psychology course due to a high level of anxiety or even psychology courses would put the student more anxierus? In order to appraise the independent variable, the following tools have been used: Charles D. Spielber's questionaire, the IDATE (Inventário de Ansiedade Traço e Estado) and statistical teste such as the t-test and analysis of Variances. The discussion is supported, among others, by the rating differences observed among the student attending the first, intermediates, and the last semester of the Psychology courses as compaired to the rates observed among the students attending the first semester of psychology as compaired to those attending also the first semester of Business Administration. The results did not show significant statistical differences among the participants of this experiment. It is found from this research that the student of psychology is not more anxious than those in Business Administration. It shows also that theirlevel of anxiety does not improves along their classes, and, finaly, that demand for Psychology course does not lead to an anxiety condition.
