EPGE hosted Nobel Prize Laureate Robert Engle and several other top economists in the Conference “A economia e a econometria dos preços das commodities” on August 16 and 17, 2012. Organization and opening remarks were made by the vice-president of Getulio Vargas Foundation, Sergio Quintella; FGV EPGE Vice-Dean, Aloisio Araujo; and the CEO of Vale Murilo Ferreira. Participants in the seminar included FGV EPGE professor João Victor Issler; FGV EPGE professor Pedro Ferreira and professors Allan Timmermann (University of California San Diego), Diane Pierret (Université Catholique de Louvain), Eswar Prasad (Cornell University and Brookings Institution), Hélyette Geman (Commodity Finance Centre, University of London and ESCP Europe), Jan Groen (Federal Reserve Bank of New York),J ohn Cuddington (Colorado School of Mines), Klaus Schmidt-Hebbel (PUC-Chile), Roberto Rigobon (Massachusetts Institute of Technology) and Thierry Verdier (Paris School of Economic).
