Resumo
The following study aims to explore the rising public policies regarding environmental issues within the international and national settings, and how the exchange of environmental assets as market-based mechanisms can contribute to fulfill these public policies cost efficiently. The main issues addressed in the following study are the regulation of environmental assets in Brazil, if these assets should be considered securities, and, consequently if they have to be analyzed and/or regulated by the Securities Exchange Commission.
