Resumo
This analysis will draw the picture of the Italian startups ecosystem, showing its evolution and the policies implemented throughout the years, starting from 2012. Indeed, in that year, a specific and ad hoc legislation was introduced to support the Italian ecosystem’s development. I identified four verticals concerning the ecosystem: startups, financing, accelerators and incubators, tech transfer. I will look at each of these verticals, coming up with a picture of what has been done and looking at the impact that these policies had on startups’ business activities, financing and entrepreneurial culture. In doing so, I will bring together different evaluations conducted by, for instance, the OECD and the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, and a personal qualitative analysis conducted through semi-structured interviews.
